BLOCK PRINTING

Block printing is a traditional method of producing printed textiles in India practised throughout the country in different forms. The age old practice thrives in a beautiful ecosystem of natural dyes, chemical free processes and handmade products. The textiles featured in RATNAGARBHA: The Repository were printed at Tharangini Studios in Bangalore using organic GOTS certified dyes. An ISO:26000 certified social enterprise, the heritage textile studio champions the cause of women empowerment and welfare of artisans. These are primary images from our research and production trips to Tharangini Studios.

Pure silk yarns are woven with zari to create intricate motifs that resonate with the community of weavers. We visited BMK Sarees in Kanchipuram to research the handloom weave and interacted with all the contributors to the value chain in production. These are primary images from the trip.
